So I'm looking forward to getting a lot of use out of this camera. With my DLSR, I always shot in RAW, or at the very least, RAW + JPG and use Lightroom w PS Elements for my desktop flow. Question for anyone familiar with this model. I'm not clear on the user manual and can't see to find a way to set the camera to RAW and have it *stay* in RAW
Canon EOS R7 Menu system. The Shoot Menu (Red Camera Icon) Page Shoot 1 (SHOOT1) Image quality. Shooting in RAW is the only way to ensure that you get the best possible image from your camera. Jpeg is essentially just a smaller file that’s built to include all kinds of information already baked in.

Frame lines indicating the shooting area will be displayed on images shot when [ : Crop/aspect ratio] is set to an option other than [Full-frame]. JPEG images generated from RAW images will be saved with the cropping area or aspect ratio that was set. Confirm that a scene will work in black and white by selecting the camera's black and white picture mode, then view the image on the rear screen. If you shoot JPEG+RAW, you will have a mono preview to help you compose and judge the image and a raw file that contains all the color data for processing the picture in different ways.
1 Answer. Assuming you mean a 5D MK II (spelt with a capital i not a 1), Menu -> "first tab" (in red) -> Quality -> shutter wheel to set RAW to "none" and aperture wheel to set JEPG. (Must have on button in the correct place, might work with the joystick too.) BUT I would HIGHLY recommend to always shoot RAW.

Any of the settings you use can be easily changed while in the camera mode as well as in the settings. Open the Settings. Tap Camera. Tap Formats. Set Photo Capture to Apple ProRaw. Make your first high quality Raw Image! Once your camera is set to Apple ProRaw you can make photos that will produce a higher file size.

One of the questions I regularly get asked is how to match the in-camera Fuji options when shooting RAW. While most RAW converters offer film simulation modes, and these are pretty close, for some they’re still not good enough. Others regularly contact me asking about how to match other options exactly, like highlight and shadow tone modes
